When the old church became unsafe in 1856, Fr Edmund Power arranged for its demolition so that rebuilding could begin. The site and stone came from Mr O’Brien, M.P., who also gave a large donation. The new church, completed in 1858, was a simple rectangular structure costing £500. Fr T. Kelly carried out a major renovation in 1978 under architect Michael Hilary and builder Guerin & Considine. The sanctuary window, by Meyer of Munich, and painted medallions in other windows are notable. The bell, cast in 1892, was mounted in 1978.
