It is a joy for us as a diocesan community to support parishes in preparing young people and their families for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Confirmation completes the process of Christian initiation that begins with Baptism. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, young people are strengthened to live as witnesses to Christ in their families, schools, and communities.
Preparation for Confirmation takes place in partnership between parishes, schools, and families. Each plays an essential role in helping candidates grow in faith, understand the meaning of the sacrament, and recognise their place in the life of the Church.
As a diocese, we are grateful to the priests, teachers, and parish catechists who accompany our young people on this journey of faith, and to parents and guardians who continue to nurture that faith at home.
Further details on parish programmes, diocesan guidelines, and resources for Confirmation preparation are available from the Diocesan Office and through local parish contacts.

Learning Resources
In this three-part series from The Way, Eleanor, Johanna and Fr Chris help candidates prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Each episode explores an aspect of faith and the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
1. Come Holy Spirit (1/3) – Preparing for Confirmation
In this first episode, Eleanor and Johanna focus on the Holy Spirit and the difference it makes in our lives. They invite viewers to reflect on how the Spirit is at work in them and in the Church today.
2. Come Holy Spirit (2/3) – Preparing for Confirmation
In this second episode, Eleanor and Johanna look at the seven gifts and the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. Through examples and discussion, they help young people recognise these gifts in daily life and how they strengthen us to live as followers of Christ.
3. Come Holy Spirit (3/3) – Preparing for Confirmation
In this final episode, Eleanor and Johanna talk about choosing a Confirmation name and sponsor, and the meaning of the Confirmation ceremony itself. They encourage candidates to see Confirmation as the beginning of a deeper journey of faith.
