Probably begun in 1816 under Bishop Archdeacon of Kilmacduagh and completed by 1824, St Colman’s is the oldest church still in use in the diocese. The site was likely given by Robert Gregory of Coole. The building follows the vernacular tradition: whitewashed walls, slate roof, and little ornamentation. A bell tower and porch were added in 1845, and the tower was raised in the early 20th century. In 1951 the galleries were removed. The church was reslated in 1987 and repaired again in 1997. It holds paintings attributed to James de Basterot of Duras.
