The Church in Ireland marks Day for Life 2026 on Sunday, 21 June, reflecting on the wonder and dignity of every human life from the moment of conception.
This year’s message recalls how the Lord Jesus Himself entered the world as an unborn child in the womb of Mary, sanctifying every stage of human life. As we celebrate the gift of life, we are invited to pray for greater respect, protection and care for all human life.
Resources, including the full bishops’ message, prayers of the faithful and other prayer resources, are available at councilforlife.ie. Homily notes will be available from Monday, 15 June.
We also warmly invite you to the National Pilgrimage for Life at Knock Shrine on Saturday, 20 June. Mass will be celebrated at 3.00pm in the Basilica, with the Anointing of the Sick. The principal celebrant and homilist will be Bishop Niall Coll.
Let us come together to celebrate the gift of life and pray for the protection of every human person.
