As this holy season begins, parishes, schools and faith communities across Ireland are invited to engage with Baptised and Sent in Lent — a new set of weekly prayer and reflection resources rooted in Baptised and Sent, the preparatory document for the 2025 National Assembly in Kilkenny. These resources place baptism at the core of our identity and mission, encouraging individuals and communities to return ever more fully to the heart of Christian life.
Developed by the Irish Synodal Pathway Team, the Baptised and Sent in Lent materials offer a simple structure for prayer, Gospel reflection and shared conversation each week during Lent. Drawing on themes such as belonging, healing, renewal and mission, they help participants reflect on how baptism is not merely a moment in the past, but the foundation of our dignity, the gateway to mission, and the root from which our calling flows.
These resources are designed for use in a wide range of parish and school settings, as well as by pastoral councils, small faith-sharing groups and families, inviting all — lay, religious and ordained — to listen to the Holy Spirit and discern concrete steps towards living more faithfully our baptismal calling.
The Diocese commends Baptised and Sent in Lent to all pastoral councils as a means of deepening prayer, fostering authentic conversation and strengthening the bonds of communion in local communities. May this season of reflection and shared journeying prepare hearts for Easter and the ongoing synodal journey towards the National Assembly in 2026.
