We recently came together with those involved in child safeguarding and safeguarding vulnerable persons across the dioceses.
Bishop Michael said: “It was heartwarming to spend this amount of time on topics that are difficult and challenging, all for the sake of creating a Church environment where our young people and vulnerable people can be welcome and can be safe. I think it is a wonderful testimony to the faith that is present among us.
“I would like to thank you sincerely, to thank your priests, and to thank everybody involved in this area of safeguarding, because it is one of the most important areas that we need to attend to in our Church life: to create that environment where children, young people and vulnerable people can be safe.
“The mood of tonight’s training is very clear. We are moving from a finger-wagging sort of ‘do this, do this, do this, you must do this’ to a much more shared culture of care, responsibility and safeguarding.”
