Daily Topics & Speakers

Monday 2 February
Crossing the threshold – “I rejoiced when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’” (Ps 122:1)
Fr Chris Gault OP — Before he was a priest, Fr Chris was a medical doctor, standing at the threshold of life and death. A Dominican from Belfast, he understands what it means to change course and seek a new path. Now serving in Cork, he speaks with young adults about finding God not in the abstract, but in the real, messy, and beautiful reality of our lives.

Tuesday 3 February
The fire of youth – “Aspire to great things, to holiness, wherever you are.” (Pope Leo XIV)
Seán Flack — An American who has made his home in Dublin, Seán Flack works with FOCUS, meeting students and young people where they are. He knows the questions, doubts, and desires that mark a young heart. He speaks not of a faith that restrains, but one that liberates – a call to live with purpose, joy, and a fire for the Gospel that can change the world from a campus, a flat, or a coffee shop.

Wednesday 3 February
The call of the heart – “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” (St Augustine)
Ellen Hickey — Ellen Hickey lives the vocation of the everyday. As a wife, mother, and music teacher, her faith is not confined to the walls of her local Church; it’s found in the patient repetition of a lesson, the prayer in a busy home, and the harmony she fosters in her community. She speaks on how the greatest calls from God are often heard in the simplest moments of our lives.

Thursday 5 February
When the house falls silent – “The Lord is near to the broken-hearted” (Ps 34:18)
John Buckley — John Buckley speaks from a place few have been. As the father of Karen, murdered in 2015, he knows the silence of profound loss. Yet, his journey is one of wrestling with grief and choosing to keep faith. He doesn’t offer easy answers, but a raw and honest witness to the strength found in God when all other strength is gone, and the difficult, grace-filled path of forgiveness.

Friday 6 February
The house of peace – “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.” (Prayer of Saint Francis)
Fr Brendan Callanan CSsR — Fr Brendan’s life has been a study in building bridges. A Redemptorist since 1964, his ministry has taken him from local parishes in Ireland to the heart of communities in Brazil and Suriname. He has spent a lifetime creating spaces of welcome. Now leading St Joseph’s in Dundalk, he speaks on peace not as an absence of conflict, but as the active, daily work of making room for others.

Saturday 7 February
The inner room – “When you pray, go into your inner room… and pray to your Father in secret.” (Mt 6:6)
Beth Davis — In a world of constant noise, Beth Davis champions the quiet, steady work of prayer. As Director of Formation for the women’s community Blessed Is She, she helps people build an interior life that can withstand the pressures of the modern world. She offers practical, honest guidance on how to find that “inner room” and truly meet God there.

Sunday 8 February
Bread for the journey forward – “They recognised him in the breaking of the bread.” (Lk 24:35)
Bishop Michael Duignan — From priest to lecturer to shepherd of two dioceses, Bishop Duignan’s life has been centred on the Eucharist as the source of all ministry. As Shepherd of our Dioceses, he understands that we are a people on a journey, and we cannot make it alone. He speaks on how we are fed by Christ not to remain in our seats, but to go out and become bread for a hungry world.

Monday 9 February
The door of witness: faith when it is not easy to believe – “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
Keith Kelly — Keith Kelly’s story is one of a man who was lost and then found. A native of Westport, he struggled to find his way until a pilgrimage to Medjugorje opened his heart to God’s mercy. He speaks powerfully about second chances, and how an encounter with grace can transform a life into a credible witness for others who think they are too far gone.

Tuesday 10 February
Sent from the house – “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” (Jn 20:21)
Fr Patrick Cahill — Fr Patrick Cahill is a co-founder of Holy Family Mission, a place dedicated to forming young people and families to be evangelists in their own lives. He believes that faith is not meant to be kept within church walls. He speaks with passion and conviction on our shared mission: to take the peace and love we find in God’s house and carry it out into a world that is waiting.
